London jazz singer, Zara McFarlane, will release her follow-up “If You Knew Her” album for Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings label on January 20th, 2014.
In 2010, Zara McFarlane released her self-produced EP “Until Tomorrow” which caught the attention of Gilles Peterson who then signed McFarlane to his Brownswood Recordings imprint. The full length version of “Until Tomorrow” was released in 2011 and critics and fans quickly took notice to Zara’s ability to carry both childlike innocence and womanly assertiveness in equal measure. Performing around the world in support of “Until Tomorrow” McFarlance was selected to perform alongside jazz star Gregory Porter at last years Nina Simone tribute concerts in the Netherlands. Like Porter, Zara is a thoughtful, uniquely engaging artist who combines the intricacies of jazz with a deep soulfulness that seamlessly blends multiple influences.
The first single for “Angie La La” featuring Leron Thomas will be released on November 25th and today we’re happy to share Osunlade’s “Yoruba Soul Mix” which takes the straight-ahead jazz original into new dance floor territory.
