Inside the Mind of ‘Noir Hop’ Creator Zilla Rocca (Exclusive Interview)
More times than not, people gravitate towards music that speaks to them. A lot of people cope with issues in their lives by listening to music that touch on those very topics. I’ve done a few interviews in my day and not to take anything away from them but they were artists, and once the work was done, we continued on our separate paths. But Philly-based emcee Zilla Rocca exudes a different aura to him. Let me ask you: Have you ever “been wronged or betrayed by someone close to you, but somehow managed to show restraint and deal with your pain to move on?” If so, I think this album is for you. Everyone experiences low points in their lives but it’s about how you deal with the struggle, examine yourself and learn from it. “No Vacation for Murder” is inspired by the personal struggle of a man and how he’s overcame adversity. It’s the type of joint that you listen to and can feel inspired. So why not get inside the mind of the man who coined the term, “noir hop?”
Zilla Rocca’s full album is available for streaming at the end of the interview.
