As October 7 creeps closer and closer, Flying Lotus continues to reveal glimpses into You’re Dead!, easily one of the most anticipated albums of 2014. With last month’s release of single, “Never Catch Me,” with Kendrick Lamar, Lotus opens up October and the final week before the album drop with visuals to the song, directed by Hiro Murai. Similar in story context to Kahlil Joseph’s interpretation of “Until the Quiet Comes,” Murai mirrors Lotus’s dreamlike musicality alongside young tragedy in the hood, perhaps in an effort to find some semblance of beauty and grace in an environment where tragedy is all too familiar.
You’re Dead! releases on October 7th on Brainfeeder.
