Crosscheck: Double Duchess x TT The Artist

By URB Staff · On September 1, 2015

When electro-hiphop duo Double Duchess started recording their debut LP All Eyes on Me, they immediately called one of their favorite BFFs, Baltimore hiphop/EDM artist, TT The Artist. Together in the studio, they vibed and the title track was the result. Exclusively for URB, the two sat down and chatted about their favorite topics — boy groups, karaoke, and sex.

TT: Which celebrity would you ask for tips on fashion?
DD: Krylon: Grace Jones, without a doubt.

TT: What’s you all time favorite karaoke song to perform?
Davo: I actually hate karaoke, a lot [laughs].
Krylon: I love karaoke and would have to say “Yellow” by Coldplay.

TT: If you died and came back as a legendary diva, who would you come as?
Davo: It would have to be Whitney Houston, at least until Janet passes on.
Krylon: It’s hard to say cause so many divas are still alive, but probably Nina Simone.

TT: Whose your favorite boy band or group?
Davo: It would probably have to be New Kids on the Block. it was my first concert after all [smiles].

**CROSSCHECK**

DD: Who is your favorite Disney female villain?
TT: Hands down, Ursula from the Little Mermaid. Her dramatics and persona reminds so much of one of my favorite aunts from Florida.

DD: What was your first concert?
TT: My first concert was actually for a hip hop show called “Hip Hop Raw and Uncut” that was aired on national TV through the Starz network. The show was filmed at a nightclub in Washington D.C. and I opened for Wale before he was “Wale.” It was an amazing experience. I had props and a van load of hot ladies as my back up dancers and hype girls, we definitely shut it down.

DD: If you could collaborate with any musician from the past, who would it be?
TT: I would love to work with the King of Pop R.I.P. [MJ]. And not purely for the amazing music he made but the visuals and effects. He was always ahead of the game and impacted the world in ways beyond his music.

DD: Where was the last place that you had sex, other than a bedroom?
TT: Shhhh… A good girl doesn’t kiss and tell [winks]. I can’t tell my secrets and blow up the spot [laughs].
