Premiere: Playdough & Sean Patrick – Humble Pie
Supported by a dedicated fanbase, when Dallas natives Playdough and Sean Patrick announced their forthcoming album We Buy Gold, the pre-order of their vinyl were sold out in less than a day. Granted, the limited run of vinyls came with a wooden boombox engraved with the album art, that is dedication, especially for an underground act.
Speaking on the album, Playdough explains, “I wanted to challenge our process with these songs. We were in L.A. working in the same building as Skrillex and running into all kinds of artists and musicians in the elevator. We wanted to keep an open mind to create and stretch without being distracted. So we went to the desert and blocked everything out.” They ended up recording in a secluded studio by the Death Valley. “It was the perfect balance of separation and natural beauty that we wanted.”
The culmination was a 10 track album which on the outside was catchy and fun but as you dig deeper, was full of substance. In anticipation of their album release on Friday, we premiere the music video of their first video, “Humble Pie.”
