Private School Releases Penrose EP and Video Single, “Impossible Squares”
San Francisco based hip-hop trio, Private School, who has been quietly making noise since 2000, released their latest EP, Penrose, which is the group’s 4th installment of minimalist yet highly sentimental bedroom rap. According to the members, dagoldenray, Ian, and Qea (Jun Dax), the EP was recorded in fleeting encounters mid 2015 and represents a body of work that is the perfect introduction to the group, which in turn served as a rekindling reunion of art and friendship. Their video, “Impossible Squares” proves that substantial lyrics in a track shouldn’t have to be backed by elaborate visual imagery; this leaves room for appreciation of the music itself.
We are introverted with our individual quirks that seem to naturally complement each other. We have an artistic view of everything so we’re comfortable going out of our comfort zones which helps keep our sounds consistent but subtly progressive.
