Dak (aka Kyle Donald) is a NorCal native who now calls Los Angeles home. Harnessing his performance jazz piano training and background in spoken word, Dak creates introspective hip hop that ranges from stripped-down piano ballads to frenetic onslaughts in the vein of Kendrick Lamar (notably on lead single “Draining Me“). Dak self-produced and mixed his new EP 2Face, weaving in influences from contemporary jazz and R&B.
When he’s not recording and persuing his degree, Dak lends his time to causes such as Aisha Fukushima’s RAPtivism and Genuine Voices, where he created a hip hop-based curriculum to bring music eduction to incarcerated Boston youth.
