On Friday, Yussef Kamaal (Yussef Dayes and Kamaal Williams aka Henry Wu) released their collaborative album Black Focus (order now). The album was released under Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings. The album is inspired by 70s jazz/fusion while continuing the spirit of London’s music scene which is greatly influenced by jungle, grime, broken beat and hip hop. The songs on the album were improvised and inspired by their live performance at Boiler Room and as a result, the music flows organically. Today, Check out two tracks from them, the title track “Black Focus,” and “Strings of Light.”
