Johnny Dangerous: If Peaches and Mickey Avalon mated
The pitch bending, crisp articulation of Orlando, FL, MC Samaritan Knowledge Intervenes Preconditioning (S.K.I.P., for short) sounds a lot like a Sage Francis, but that’s not a set back. “The Question,” from his impending Nonsense release, Autobiographicology, is equipped with elephant-trunk horns, Squarepusher scratching, hollow drums, and a Francis-like flow. “John Was A Rich Man” begins with a simple music box melody that crashes into a dark, drum-heavy beat until guitars abound and resound at the center of the cut. “Momentum” is a reclined head banger…coolest trumpet break I’ve heard since Moby Grape’s in the '60s. Visit S.K.I.P.’s MySpace to hear the latter tracks.
